Oktoberfest attendees to catch a break from the dreary, wet conditions this week
After a washout at Oktoberfest in Munich over the weekend, dry weather is expected to make a comeback this week.
A change to drier and sunnier weather will begin on Tuesday and continue through the middle of the week.
Revelers were left soaking as they hopped from tent to tent over the weekend. More than 50 mm (2.00 inches) of rain fell in Munich. Normal rainfall for the entire month of September is 86 mm (3.40 inches).

Even as the trend turns toward more favorable conditions, the rain threat isn't over. A few showers could linger into Tuesday morning before drier air completely takes over.
Along with the rain, temperatures failed to reach 16 C (60 F) both Saturday and Sunday. The normal high temperature this time of year is 19.4 C (67 F).
Temperatures will remain cool on Tuesday and Wednesday with high temperatures climbing to only 17 C (62-63 F).
More seasonable air will build into southern Germany by Thursday as temperatures climb to around 19 C (66 F) in Munich. Similar temperatures are expected on Friday and Saturday.
While dry weather is expected on Wednesday and Thursday with partly sunny skies, there will be an increase in clouds on Friday along with the threat for a brief shower or two.
Any shower will generally last 30 minutes or less and much of the day will be dry.
On 12 October 1810, a celebration was held at the front of the city gates of Munich to celebrate the marriage of Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese, according to the City of Munich's website. Because the celebration was enjoyed by the citizens of the city and by the Royal Family, they decided to continue the tradition of throwing a festival year after year.
Some time later, the start of the festival was moved earlier in the year in order to take advantage of the nicer weather in late September. Oktoberfest continues into the beginning of October, typically ending on the first weekend of the month.
